December Playlist

Here's a list of songs from a playlist I just created. Check out these songs if you're looking for some good tunes.

1. But its better if you do - Panic at the disco.
I hated these guys when they first came out, but they do have some good songs. Love the piano in this song.

2. Let wander your restless heart - Attack in Black.
Love these guys, seen them 3 or 4 times. This song is actually a cover of a singer-songwriter named baby Eagle, they did a split ep of covers of each other, with AiB coming out on top in my opinion.

3. Sink.Florida.Sink. - Against! Me.
Acoustic tune from this punk band

4. Nine in the Afternoon - Panic at the Disco.
Loved playing this song on Rock Band 2. You can really tell they were listening to a lot of Beatles when they wrote this song.

5. Four Winds - Bright Eyes.

6. On the Way Home - Crosby, Still, Nash & Young.
From the live CD Four Way Street.

7. The pros and cons of Hitchhiking - Roger Waters.
Title track from The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking. Great CD, sounds like Pink Floyd with Eric Clapton playing lead guitar, highly recommended.

8. Meet me on the equinox - Death Cab For Cutie.
Lead single from the New Moon soundtrack (which is pretty good).

9. The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down - The Band
From The Last Waltz, this live version is much better than the album version.

10. Got to get you into my life - Paul Mccartney
From his new live CD Good Evening New York City. One of my favourite Beatles songs, and Paul still sounds great.

11. Breakfast in America - Supertramp
"I'm a winner, I'm a sinner, Do you want my autograph?"

12. Edmonton - The Rural Alberta Advantage.
Great band I just started listening to. Great Indie rock stuff.

13. The Right Place - Monsters of Folk
Can't go wrong when your band consists of Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes), M. Ward (She & Him), and Jim James (My Morning Jacket).

14. Tournament of Hearts - The Weakerthans.
The song uses curling technology to represent a failed relationship. All I can say is genius.
"And i'm peeling off the label
As they peel a corner guard
Dance down the sheet to the tune of "Hurry, Hurry Hard"

15. Dead End Friends - Them Crooked Vultures.
John Paul Jones. Dave Grohl. Josh Homme.

16. Believe - Moneen
Good uplifting tune.

17. Undun - The Guess Who.
One of my favourites. Love the jazz flute.

18. Runnin Down a Dream - Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.

19. Magical Mystery Tour - Cheap Trick.

20. Cornerstone - Arctic Monkeys.
Those monkeys must be cold.

Put this one, go for a drive.

No Hitter

I'm sure everyone has seen this by now, but if not you have to check out the catch by Dewayne Wise in the top of the ninth to preserve Mark Burhle's no hitter. It already has my vote for play of the year.

Billy Beane has done it again by taking St. Louis best prospect, not too mention he's a third baseman and the Cardinals are in need of a third baseman right now with Glaus being hurt. Although Holliday is a pretty solid player, he is hitting .286 with 11HRs and 54 RBIs and that is considered a bad year for him. He should make the Cardinals a very serious threat this year.

Raptors starting line up next year?

Calderon
Wright
Turkoglu
Bosh
Bargnani

Thats not a bad starting five, especially if all 5 play up to their potential.

Rumblings

- Its about time the Blue Jays released BJ Ryan, he has been horrible and shows no signs of getting better.

- I don't think JP should trade Roy Halladay. Unless the package is so good you can't turn it down. I think the Jays have a chance of being very good next year. I think there are a couple of players they should look at trading including Wells, Rios, Tallet and Richmond. I don't think they would get anything for Wells, so I probably wouldn't trade him. Rios you might be able to get something decent for, but it all depends on if Travis Snider is going to play next year, and its not looking good. I don't believe Tallet and Richmond are long term solutions, they both give up too many walks, and with Marcum, Mcgowan coming back next year, and Cecil and Romero on the way up, they should get something for them right now will the value is the highest.

- Are the Flyers crazy? Do they think Pronger will still be playing when he's 43?

- If I was Bob Gainey I would have given Sake Koivu a one year deal worth 3 million, as long as he understands that he's the number 3 centre.

Raptors sign Turkoglu?

Apparently the Raptors have signed Turkoglu to a 5 year $50 million dollar deal. I was hoping the Raptors might get him, and he might just be the best free agent available this year. The only problem is he fits into the mold of Raptor players who like to play on the outside, and aren't tough enough inside. I guess we'll see what else Colangelo does.

Blue Jays Lineup

The Jays lineup should look like this: (OBP, Slug, OPS)
1. Scutaro (.382, .418, .800)
2. Overbay (.384, .419, .878)
3. Rolen (.392, .490, .883)
4. Lind (.385, .549, .934)
5. Hill (.340, .500, .840)
6. Bautista (.394, .365, .759)
7.Barajas (.303, .434, .737)
8. Rios (.318, .415, .733)
9. Wells (.303, .402, .705)

Based on On Base Percentage (OBP), Slugging Percentage (Slug) and On Base Plus Slugging Percentage, this is what I think the Jays lineup should look like. Scutaro doesn't have the best on base percentage but he has proven he can get the job done. Overbay hits second because he has a good on base percentage but not a great slugging percentage. Rolen, Lind and Hill hit 3-4-5 because of their solid slugging percentages. Bautista hits 6th because he has a higher OPS then Barajas, Rios and Wells. The last 3 are based on OPS as well. It would suck to have you're number 9 hitter making $20 million dollars, but you can't have a guy with an OPS of .705 hitting 3rd or 4th. Wells is ranked 308th in OPS in Major League Baseball, just behind Mike Jacobs and just ahead of Jerry Hairston Jr.
I believe the Jays need to do something radical to salvage this season as the ship seems to be sinking. They can longer wait for Wells to snap out of his slump. With the next 6 games against the Yankees and Devil Rays a losing record will pretty much put them out of the playoff picture.
